About:
A Scotch single malt matured 12 years in American and European Oak sherry casks before being finished in Amontillado sherry casks.
Appearance:
This has a lighter orange-amber tone in glass, showcasing nice viscosity and legs.
Nose:
It is sweet and nuts on the nose, conveying that sherry cask up front and finishing influence right out of the gate. Joining this are notes of orange marmalade, green apples, strawberry jam, a little bit of oak, and dark chocolate.
Palate:
It is all about the nuttiness here, conveying alongside it on the palate a good amount of sweet treat goodness. Beyond these opening salvos, you get further considerations of bubble gum, oak, dark cherry chocolate, peaches, and cream, and a pleasant vanilla banknote.
Finish:
The finish on this is sweet, dry, and a little nutty, conveying a moderate finish.
Comments:
Glenfiddich 12-Year-Old Sherry Cask Finish is a solid entry into the world of sherry-cask-influenced whiskies. It is somewhat considered a sherry bomb, but it is not overly aggressive in that niche like others. This is an all-around good daily sipper.

Glenfiddich is a Scotch single malt whisky brand known to the vast majority of those drinking whisk(e)y from this part of the world. Founded in 1886 by William Grant, this Speyside region distillery opened its doors in 1887 and eventually became a tour de force in the Scotch world. It is enjoyed in more than 180 countries around the globe and is one of the most award-winning.
Given Glenfiddich’s scope and size, it is no wonder the number of bottlings coming out of this distillery is extremely diverse and deep. The Flagship Collection, for example, sports a 12-year, a 12-year sherry cask finish, a 14-year bourbon cask, a 15-year, and an 18-year.

What’s in the bottle

The whisky being reviewed here, Glenfiddich 12-Year-Old Sherry Cask Finish, debuted in Fall 2022, when it became part of the previously mentioned Flagship group. This expression initially matured 12 years in American and European oak sherry casks before being finished in rare Amontillado sherry casks. Amontillado sherry is “considered one of the four major dry sherries but still displays sweet notes.”

“The core character remains true to the heart of our Glenfiddich 12 year old with a sweet, fruitness rich in fresh pear and crisp apple,” said Brian Kisman, Glenfiddich Master Blender, of this whiskey. “The flavor is deeper, sweeter and more oaky with light spice, delicate hints of dried fruits and a touch of baked apple.”

This Scotch is bottled at 43% ABV and priced at around $50.
