Whiskey Review: Savage & Cooke Rye Whiskey

Like Conversation

Tasting Notes:

About:
Distilled in California from a 51% rye, 45% corn, 4% malted barley mash bill; aged at least three years in American oak; finished in Grenache wine barrels; bottled at 100 proof; priced at $55.
Appearance:
Some really gorgeous, brown-golden-amber liquid swishes in the glass. Legs are thinner but strong.
Nose:
Bread spice pops right away, complimented by some well noticed orange, floral, brown sugar, caramel, vanilla and ginger notes.
Palate:
Ooo, nice. That’s some yummy, jammy spice playing together in my mouth. Warm bread spice, orange, maple syrup, pineapple, molasses and ginger offer up a great balance
Finish:
Holds long and true – slight sweet, slight spicy. Drifts away quietly and pleasantly.
