Tasting Notes

About:

The Tomatin Sherry Collection showcases a range of sherry cask matured whiskies, demonstrating the variety within the category. This whisky was distilled in 2006 and matured in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for 17 years before bottling at 46% ABV.
Appearance:
Deep gold. Oily in the glass with slow-developing tears.
Nose:
Deep and rich. Dark plum, sticky dates, blackberries. Muscovado sugar and dark chocolate. Old leather and loose-leaf tobacco. Cloves and sandalwood.
Palate:
Medium to full mouthfeel. Rich and luscious with plenty of deep, dark fruits. Dark plums, raisins and berries macerated in sherry. Dark chocolate orange and gingerbread. Black pepper spice.
Finish:
Dark fruit and nut chocolate, with orange, looseleaf tobacco, a touch of woody spice.
Comments:
Quality highland malt paired with generous PX, a combination that should work – and, indeed, does work very well.
