Westward Whiskey Vintner's Cuvée review

Tasting Notes

About:

It is created from American single malt whiskeys influenced by four types of wine cask finishes. It is bottled at 96 proof and priced at $99.95.
Appearance:
A very luscious amber with distinct reddish overtones exists in this glass, showcasing excellent legs and moderate viscosity.
Nose:
Berry is first and foremost on the nose, represented by a pop of strawberry aromatics. Oak, baked bread, creme brulee, and a pronounced brown sugar banknote join it in more subtle ways.
Palate:
This is like drinking strawberry shortcake on the first sip, with decidedly bready and strawberry notes at the front of the palate. As this opens up, you also start to pull in oak, white chocolate, a nod of almonds, a touch of coriander, some dried figs, and a bit of marzipan,
Finish:
The finish on this is velvety, offering a sweet end that doesn’t linger for too long.
Comments:
The multi-wine cask finishes in the Westward Whiskey Vintner’s Cuvée steal the show somewhat here, giving this multi-layered whiskey quite the journey across the tasting experience. However, the superberry forward aspects may not appeal to all.
