Heaven Hill Grain To Glass Kentucky Straight Bourbon review

Tasting Notes

About:

A bourbon that’s part of a more “craft” oriented Heaven Hill whiskey project that sees the use of a unique corn seed varietal as part of the mash bill. Aged six years, bottled at 107 proof without chill filtration and priced at $99.99.
Appearance:
This is a lovely, darker amber color in the glass, showcasing thicker legs and viscosity.
Nose:
A sweet vanilla note is the first to emerge on the aromatics front, supported by rich orange and vibrant oak notes. Other considerations include marshmallows, a little bit of maple, milk chocolate, and a nod of baking spice.
Palate:
A nice burst of orange candy and warm vanilla hit as the palate takes in this bourbon, showcased in support by a nod of oak. Looking beyond this, the flavors rolling on by include bread just out of the oven, a bit of pear, coriander, cinnamon, and a healthy kick of maple.
Finish:
This finishes clean and not too aggressive, giving a nice, sweet end that fades moderately.
Comments:
Heaven Hill Grain To Glass Kentucky Straight Bourbon does an excellent job of showcasing a “craft” bourbon project done by a large-scale distillery such as this. Classic bourbon notes are captured here, and this whiskey stands very tall for being a more experimental type—well done.
