Tasting Notes

About:

Mash bill is a sweet mash of number-one food-grade corn, soft red winter wheat, and barley. It was aged four years in white American oak casks and two years in Portuguese tawny port casks. It is 107 proof and costs $149.99.
Appearance:
This is remarkably gorgeous in glass, reflecting the years it spent in port casks. Rich brownish-red colors showcase within, along with well-formed legs and excellent viscosity.
Nose:
Oh my…the smell in glass is stunning, with warm and nutty notes drawing my nose in. It’s a cornucopia of toffee, vanilla, oak, roasted almonds, honey, bread pudding, and a subtle black licorice.
Palate:
That Texas heat, even at 107 proof, washes over, carrying with it a palate profile full of diversity that includes nutty chocolate, marshmallows, vanilla, baking spice, brown sugar, oak, chocolate pudding (yes, two chocolates), and almonds.
Finish:
The finish is a bit hot but extremely smooth. It gives me some nutty sweetness in the back palate as it slides down my throat in a warm and inviting way that lingers for the right amount of time.
Comments:
2024 Guadalupe is something special, showcasing such a nice and vibrant tasting experience across the board. The price is a bit steep for a six-year-old, but sometimes you just have to pay the tab. Highly recommended.
