A.D. LAWS FOUR GRAIN BOURBONA new Colorado distillery that recently began bottling its own bourbon has at its helm a master distiller with a strong pedigree from another famous whiskey producer in the same state. The newer operation, known as the Laws Whiskey House, has to market both in its home state and beyond a product that’s been aged for a few years in the Colorado mountain climate after being distilled from four grains.

The A.D. Laws Four Grain Bourbon is distilled by one Jake Norris out of Denver. Norris got his distilling experience in part from being involved in early days of production at Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey, a well regarded whiskey distillery. The operations at Laws Whiskey House has Norris overseeing an in-house process where they mill their own grains (some of which are local), combine them and cook them to create a sour mash. From there, according to the distillery, the mash

is open-air fermented for four days. We then distill it in a four plate pot/column still custom made just for us by Vendome Copper Works. From there the whiskey makes its way to full sized American White Oak barrels [for aging].

The four grains in question in this young bourbon include corn, barley, wheat and rye. What’s resulted from this is a 47.5% ABV bottling that’s been pricing between $60 and $80 online. If you want a bottle, Caskers is probably the easiest place to get one outside of Colorado right now.
